Site Rep Spotlight – Karen Compton Ward

Who is SOSCA Site Rep Karen Compton Ward?

Job Title/Department:  Program Supervisor Community Connection for Child Care

Site Rep Location:  Larry E. Reider Building–CCCC

How long have you been with KCSOS?  18 Yrs/1 as an AmeriCorps Member

What does being a site rep mean to you?  I enjoy being the person who gathers and filters information, then send it out to my team.

What would you say to someone who’s considering becoming a site rep?  If anyone is interested in becoming a Site Rep, I would tell them go for it.  It’s awesome to be able to gather information and bring it back to your work team, and explain the benefits of being a SOSCA member.  There is nothing hard about it.  I go to the meetings, I have fun, and I am able to bring the info from the meetings back to those in my team who can’t make the meetings, and relay the info to them as though my team members they themselves attended the meetings.   I’ll help you until you are comfortable with what we do as Site Reps.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?  I enjoy fishing, crocheting blankets for my family and friends, playing at the beach and going to my son’s and grand-children’s sports games.

We’ve created “SOSCA Spotlight–Site Rep Edition” in the hopes of expanding your knowledge of who SOSCA is while celebrating the hard work and dedication of our Site Reps.
