Board Member Spotlight – Matt Mizell

Throughout the year, SOSCA will be spotlighting some of our wonderful members in an effort to increase familiarity and comradery amongst our classified staff. Today, we are putting the spotlight on Matt Mizell, who is one of our newest members. Matt is a Building Security Specialist for KCSOS.

Matt joined SOSCA with the hopes of increasing safety and security awareness by participating in various member activities, including sharing his unique perspective with the negotiations team.
All members are encouraged to pass on any recommendations to the negotiations committee, and we hope you get involved as well!

Matt says that some of the perks of being a SOSCA Member include increased communication with fellow classified staff, ability to vote for changes, and inclusion in SOSCA meetings and activities.

In his personal time, Matt teaches martial arts and self-defense classes though his company, Evolution Training Academy.

He also enjoys leather working, acting in local theater, and playing lead guitar in the band “Missing Autumn.” Matt has his AA in Theater and an AA in Communication. Currently, he is working on his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

Matt is proud to be part of KCSOS classified staff. He says that he is grateful to work for an organization that respects his vital role in safety and security.

  • The Objectives of this Organization are to:

    • Provide its members with duly authorized representation for the purpose of protecting and improving their rights under the Merit System.
    • To settle disputes between employee and employer arising from grievances as they apply to the Merit System, and
    • To provide the communication vehicle between employee and employer.
