Who is SOSCA member Joan Votaw?

Job Title:  Account Clerk I

Department/Division:  Food and Nutrition Services

How long have you been with KCSOS?  30 years

What is your favorite job duty?  Hmm…maybe putting together the seventeen (17) menu calendar’s each month for our various programs.  One other thing that does come to mind isn’t a duty, but a pleasure, when talking to a parent and student and asking them about the food and service we’re providing for their site, and they say they’re really happy with both.  That’s great!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?  At home, I enjoy long walks with our two 4-legged kids, usually someplace where they can run.  My all-time favorite way to spend some “free time” is vacationing back in Arkansas, and while back there to spend a day canoeing down the Buffalo Nat’l River (as the locals call it, “floatin’ the Buffalo”).  So quiet and peaceful.  Except we still have to watch for spiders and snakes in the trees that can, and do, drop down into canoes from time to time, but that’s ok, it’s still worth it :).

What else would you like to share with us?  I’m looking forward to hopefully retiring within the next two years.  My husband and I both would like to have more time to visit our daughter and son-in-law who live out of state, as well as visit other family and friends that live out of state.  I’m also a big fan of college football, with the Arkansas Razorbacks as my #1 favorite (Wooooo Pig Sooie!) and the Oklahoma State Cowboys as my #2 (Go Pokes!).
