SOSCA 2017-2018 Contract

Dear KCSOS SOSCA Members:

Your SOSCA Negotiations Team has completed negotiations with KCSOS Administration and is pleased to offer two options for the 2017 – 2018 fiscal year contract:

Option 1

  1. 3% salary increase across the board retroactive to 07/01/17.
  2. Beginning with the 2017 – 2018 benefit year, the County Superintendent agrees to contribute up to $1,332.00* (103% of the 2016 – 2017 amount) per month toward the cost of the employee insurance benefits package (medical, prescription, behavioral health, dental, vision and life insurance) for a full-time employee and his or her eligible dependent or dependents and for retirees eligible for office paid medical coverage. Employees who choose the Anthem Blue Cross PPO Office Plan with Delta Dental PPO Plan agree to pay an additional $38.70 per year contribution. Other benefit plan options are available, including the Delta Dental DD 1500 Plan.
  3. Change the language in Appendix C, Section 2 paragraph 2: “The retiree must also enter retirement status directly from employment with the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office, unless that employee was disabled at the time of retirement and this disability prevented that person from having completed the required years of service.”

Option 2

  1. 2.5% salary increase across the board retroactive to 07/01/17.
  2. Beginning with the 2017 – 2018 benefit year, the County Superintendent agrees to contribute up to $1,335.05 (103.25% of the 2016 – 2017 amount) per month toward the cost of the employee insurance benefits package (medical, prescription, behavioral health, dental, vision and life insurance) for a full-time employee and his or her eligible dependent or dependents and for retirees eligible for office paid medical coverage.
  3. Change the language in Appendix C, Section 2 paragraph 2 as stated above.

We will be voting on the above options at the KCSOS Vendor Faire on 08/23/17 at the City Centre Building.   Absentee ballots can be obtained from Daríe Sarad, SOSCA Director of Negotiations, at dawright@kern.org.  Employees located at the City Centre, Larry E. Reider Education Center and the Access Center must be scheduled for leave time in order to be eligible for an absentee ballot.
